The Philani Health and Nutrition Project in Khayelitsha
We do not stop in Langa but move on to Khayelitsha. Khayelitsha seems poorer, compared to Langa. Not as many brick houses, not as many shops.
We make a first stop at the Philani Health and Nutrition Project. Quoting from their homepage, the Philani Health and Nutrition Project “is a community-based non-governmental organization (NGO) committed to the protection of the rights of every child to proper nutrition and healthcare in communities where malnourished children and destitute mothers are most vulnerable.”
The centre consists of a shop and work areas. Women work with weaving, making quilts, mats, clothing.
Nybliven fyrtioåring intresserad av vin & mat (mest äta, inte laga), historia, språk, fotografering, bra böcker.
